Construction Begins on the New “Gratl” 6-Seater Chairlift in Sölden

Construction work on the new “Gratl” 6-seater chairlift in Sölden has officially started as planned. The project marks another important step in the ongoing modernization of infrastructure at Gaislachkogl.

The new detachable 6-seater chairlift will replace the existing double chairlift, which has been in operation for several decades. In the future, guests will benefit from increased transport capacity, shorter travel times, and significantly enhanced comfort and safety standards.

As part of the project, the top station will also be repositioned. This will improve the unloading situation while additionally creating a new blue ski run connection. At the same time, the technical snowmaking infrastructure along the route is being upgraded to the latest standards.

The new installation is based on the latest D-Line generation by Doppelmayr and features weather protection bubbles, individual seats, a gearless DirectDrive system, and modern assistance systems in the boarding and unloading areas.

The structural design of the station also sets deliberate architectural accents within the project. Designed by Melzer & Hopfner, the station combines the functional requirements of modern ropeway infrastructure with a clear and reduced design language. Horizontal lines, compact building volumes, and the careful integration into the alpine topography ensure that the station blends naturally into the landscape while keeping technical processes and structural elements clearly visible.
