Planaibahn: Cable car technical planning + coordination with authorities

Seilbahnplanung und Behördenkoordination durch das Ingenieurbüro Melzer & Hopfner.

The ultra-modern main cable car ensures a comfortable ascent. Long waiting times are a thing of the past. The latest generation of gondolas can comfortably accommodate ten people, and thanks to the ergonomic individual seats, the ride on the Planai cable car is a pleasure. Skiers can reach Schladming’s local mountain in just twelve minutes over a distance of 3.7 kilometers. The panoramic glazing of the new Omega V cabins provides a unique panoramic view of the Schladminger Tauern and the Dachstein massif.

Everything has been geared towards the needs of guests – digital information systems make it easier to find your way around, and additional ticket machines save you having to queue at the ticket offices. The modern indoor area at the valley station offers guests plenty of space, while spacious and comfortable seating rounds off the living room feeling. What remains as before is the convenient parking in the underground garage and in the parking garage directly at the valley station.

The middle and top stations have been completely rebuilt and are real eye-catchers, and not just from an architectural point of view – the modern D-Line gondola lift from Doppelmayr guarantees stress-free boarding and alighting thanks to an adapted travel speed in the stations. The Melzer & Hopfner team would like to thank Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen GmbH for their many years of loyalty and excellent cooperation. We are proud to have been involved in this major project in the form of cable car planning and coordination with the authorities. We wish the Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen GmbH all the best, much joy and success with the new Planai cable car.
