06 May New era of the 12er Nordbahn
A legend says goodbye, but the future of skiing in Hinterglemm is already in full swing! After 35 years of loyal service, the Zwölfer Nordbahn was sent into well-deserved retirement. However, this farewell does not mark the end, but rather the beginning of a new era of skiing in the region.
The new construction of the 12er NORD
The 12er NORD cable car project, which is due to be completed before 2025, promises a significant improvement in comfort. The existing lift with standing gondolas from 1989 will be replaced by a modern 10-seater monocable gondola lift, which is similar in design to the 12-seater KOGEL lift. With a rapid transport capacity of 2,600 people per hour, the ascent is a real pleasure. The valley station will be moved into the valley to ensure even more convenient and safer access to the Hochalmbahn and 12er NORD stations.
Another mosaic of this ambitious project was built last year in the form of the new ski bridge over the main road. This bridge not only makes access to the stations easier, but also requires a quicker decision: Continue on the Skicircus circuit or take the 12er Nordabfahrt back down into the valley?
Our commitment to sustainability and future-proof infrastructure
The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025 are coming up and the Skicircus will once again be the setting for an atmospheric winter spectacle. The focus is on the concept “One mountain – all competitions” and Melzer & Hopfner are proud to make a significant contribution to this.
From overall planning to construction, we are significantly involved in the implementation of this cable car and bridge project.
