Building permit issued – 8SBK Lärchkogelbahn

A new eight-seater chairlift will open on the Schladminger Planai for the 2020/21 winter season. The Lärchkogelbahn – the most heavily used cable car in the Schladming 4-mountain ski area – has been phased out after 26 years and is being replaced by a modern 8-seater chairlift. The new high-performance cable car can now transport 3,500 guests per hour to the Lärchkogel area. As part of today’s construction hearing (09.06.2020), planning permission was granted for the requested construction of the new railroad.

Over the past few weeks, there have been many company negotiations and discussions with surveyors and landowners. The construction work can now start, even if it is four weeks late. The old lift will be professionally dismantled, transported to Slovakia and will probably be put back into operation in the Zuberec-Janovky ski resort for the next ski season.

“Especially in these challenging times, this investment is a driving force for the regional and Styrian economy and a noticeable improvement in services for our ski guests. There will be a time after Corona and we have to be prepared for it,” says Planai Managing Director Georg Bliem.
