8SBK Teufeltalbahn: comfort at the highest level

Thanks to state-of-the-art technology and the clear signature of Melzer & Hopfner, the ski resort will be even more attractive for guests from November 2024.

8SBK Teufeltalbahn: comfort at the highest level

Experience the incomparable Gerlos ski area, nestled in the breathtaking Zillertal Arena. With 52 cable cars and 150 kilometers of pistes, the Zillertal Arena is the largest ski area in the Zillertal.

Innovation on the mountain: the Teufeltalbahn

In 2019, the 10EUB Stuanmandlbahn went into operation, which was the second step after the 10EUB Dorfbahn built in 2016 for a high-quality connection from the center of Gerlos to the neighboring ski area in Zell. This year will see the third and final step towards closing the “comfort gap” after Zell.

As with the aforementioned 10EUB Dorfbahn and 10EUD Stuanmandlbahn projects, they are receiving technical support for their project from the Vorarlberg planning office Melzer & Hopfner from Bregenz.

State-of-the-art infrastructure for maximum comfort

After studying the options in detail, it was decided to equip the last link in the chain with a wind-stable 8-seater chair with weather protection hoods and seat heating, thus creating an ultra-modern and extremely comfortable connection from the village center to the edge of the Zell ski area.

Technical sophistication and clear architecture

The new valley station will be located directly adjacent to the 10EUB Wilde Krimml, which will be completed in 2023. The repositioning of these two stations has “tidied up” the area and made it much more spacious and comfortable for guests. Almost half of the single-aisle branch line station will be buried in order to reduce the size of the structure as much as possible.

The mountain station is located at the highest point of the ski area. The station is completely enclosed for weather reasons and due to the altitude. In addition to the cable car station, it contains technical rooms, energy supply, a water reservoir and an extremely spacious storage area for the cable cars in the basement. A modern photovoltaic system will be installed on the south façade of the mountain station.

The technical concept envisages an 8-seater chairlift with direct drive. The rigid bridge drive is located in the top station, while the bracing takes place in the valley. The train station for all vehicles is located in the valley. The 8-seater armchairs with single seat look, weather protection hoods and seat heating offer outstanding comfort. In addition, the vehicle’s mass makes it extremely stable in windy conditions, ensuring maximum availability even in the odd breeze.

All of the buildings are planned or designed by Melzer & Hopfner and bear their clear signature. Clear, no-frills architecture, minimalist design and high functionality speak for themselves.
