The new Grafenbergbahn will provide Wagrain with a modern, high-capacity connection that will significantly improve comfort, efficiency, and connectivity within the ski area.<\/strong><\/p>

With the new Grafenberg 10-person gondola, Wagrain is making a strategic investment in the future of Snow Space Salzburg and sending a strong message about modern infrastructure, comfort, and efficiency. The new facility replaces three existing lifts and is one of the region\u2019s most significant modernization projects. <\/p>

Modern Access to Grafenberg<\/strong><\/h3>

The new gondola connects the valley to Grafenberg via the G-Link over a distance of about three kilometers, climbing nearly 470 meters in elevation. With a ride time of about five minutes and significantly increased capacity, guests will benefit from a fast, comfortable, and seamless entry into the ski resort. <\/p>

New Intermediate Station Strengthens Connectivity<\/strong><\/h3>

A key component of the project is the new mid-station. It provides a direct connection to the G-Link cable car, thereby significantly improving the link between Wagrain and Flachau. <\/p>

The new infrastructure not only improves connectivity within the ski resort but also optimizes visitor flow and enhances the appeal of the entire Snow Space Salzburg. As a result, guests benefit from shorter distances, better connections, and an even more comfortable mountain experience. <\/p>

Infrastructure with an Eye Toward the Future<\/strong><\/h3>

The structural design was also specifically tailored to the requirements of a modern cable car infrastructure. Melzer & Hopfner\u2019s scope of services includes not only the technical planning of the cable car system and the design of the intermediate and mountain stations, but also the submission of construction plans and coordination with the authorities. <\/p>

In addition to technical advancements, sustainability also plays an important role. On the one hand, existing station buildings will be reused\u2014to the extent that it is technically feasible and practical\u2014or adapted to meet the new requirements. <\/p>

The three cable cars to be decommissioned will, among other things, be partially transferred to other ski resorts, while the 8EUB Grafenberg Express will be installed in Popolo Eben as a new access lift. In this way, the project combines state-of-the-art cable car technology with the responsible use of existing resources. <\/p>

With its opening for the 2026\/27 winter season, Wagrain is strengthening its position as a modern gateway to Snow Space Salzburg and laying the groundwork for an even more enjoyable mountain experience in both summer and winter.<\/p>
