Ingenieurbüro Melzer & Hopfner – your professional partner in the approval process.

For over 30 years, Melzer & Hopfner has been synonymous with functional and high-quality ropeway planning. In addition to the technical and design details, legal aspects are playing an increasingly important role. A smooth approval process is the basis for the timely implementation of a construction project.

Ropeways have a special appeal. This is not least due to the environment in which they are embedded. They allow you to experience our fascinating mountain world up close. In order to preserve these impressive landscapes, care is taken to ensure that cable car installations and their infrastructure buildings are optimally integrated into the surrounding terrain right from the planning stage. Our declared aim is to harmonize nature and technology.

With over 30 years on the market and more than 300 ropeways completed, Melzer & Hopfner has in-depth expertise in ropeway planning. The highest value is placed on precision and functionality – both in terms of technical details and design. Intelligent solutions and structured processes guarantee smooth and punctual construction work.

However, the approval process comes before the construction work itself. Comprehensive knowledge of the applicable regulations and excellent contacts with the authorities are the basis for a speedy process. In addition to the approval of new systems, conversions in particular often pose a special challenge in terms of approval procedures. Thanks to our wealth of experience, we find the optimum solution for our customers. We attach great importance to efficient and speedy processing. As the central coordination office, we ensure that the required documents are sent to the relevant departments in a timely manner and in the appropriate quality and scope. During the course of the project, we ensure that all official requirements are met and documented to enable a smooth approval process.

This year we were able to put our know-how to the test in Hochgurgl. The expansion of the motorcycle museum at TOP Mountain Crosspoint began in 2020. Melzer & Hopfner was entrusted with the coordination of the official procedure. A fire broke out in mid-January while the construction site was in hibernation, completely destroying the entire existing museum wing. Together with the responsible authorities from the BMK and the state of Tyrol, we were able to find an ideal solution for the construction process with regard to the approval procedure for the reconstruction. This created the basis for the entire museum to be opened in new splendor at the start of the season in November 2021.

In addition to the large construction site at the valley station of the Kirchenkarbahn, the intermediate station was also extended. Since the construction of the second section in 2018 in particular, summer frequencies have exceeded expectations. Particular attractions are the breathtaking view at the summit and the idyllically situated Kirchenkarhütte, a popular excursion destination. It is within easy walking distance of the intermediate station. The extremely positive development of summer operations created the need for an entry and exit point on the valley side of the intermediate station, which was not included in the original concept. We only had a good five months between commissioning and start-up. For comparatively small conversion projects like this one, the approval process takes by far the longest. With full commitment and professionally prepared and coordinated input documents, the new boarding and alighting point at the intermediate station was put into operation on time.

As a state-certified engineering office, we always advise and represent our clients in the approval process with commitment and professionalism. Good preparation, smooth processes and binding deadlines avoid unnecessary effort on all sides and lead to project success.
