The New Gartnerkofel Gondola Lift at Nassfeld: Redefining Comfort

The New Gartnerkofel Gondola Lift at Nassfeld: Redefining Comfort

With the new 10-passenger gondola lift, a new chapter has begun at Nassfeld. After four decades of reliable service, the old chairlift has been retired and replaced by a state-of-the-art gondola lift that safely and comfortably transports guests uphill in both winter and summer.

A Generational Change with Vision

Since its commissioning in 1985, the detachable 4-seat Gartnerkofel chairlift has made a significant contribution to the tourist development of Nassfeld. However, with growing visitor numbers—especially in summer—and increasing demands for accessibility, comfort, and operational safety, it became clear that a replacement was long overdue.

Construction of the modern 10-passenger gondola lift began in May 2025, and by the end of November the lift was officially approved by the authorities and handed over to the cable car operator.

The general planning was once again entrusted to the cable car planning office Melzer & Hopfner from Bregenz. As early as 2024, our team played a key role in the successful realization of the neighboring Tröglbahn 6-seat chairlift.

Our services at a glance:

  • Study of variants
  • Structural design concept for the valley and mountain stations
  • hochbautechnische Konzeption der Tal- und Bergstation
  • Preparation of tender documents for cable car technology
  • Coordination with the relevant authorities

The new valley station will remain at the existing location, featuring a modern building with integrated garage facilities, technical and storage rooms, ticket machines, and a small gastronomy area with a panoramic terrace planned for the future. The mountain station will be relocated slightly downhill to provide more space for boarding and disembarking.

Technology That Moves

The new Gartnerkofel lift is a detachable 10-passenger monocable gondola system with a powerful three-phase drive located at the mountain station. It transports up to 3,000 people per hour at a travel speed of 6 m/s—fast, quiet, and comfortable.

Construction start: May 2025
Commissioning: Winter season 2025/26
