6SL Maiskopf – New life for proven technology

After the successful commissioning of the feeder system Streuböden, the Maiskopf surface lift has also been modernised – sustainably, functionally and perfectly integrated into the ski circuit.

Endless slopes, snow-covered hills and a fascinating landscape: the ski circuit Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn ranks among the largest and most attractive ski resorts in Austria — and the world, with approximately 270 kilometres of pistes.

After the new 10-seat detachable gondola (10EUB) Streuböden section 1+2 was built in 2024, another important step has now been taken: the surface lift Maiskopf has been completely renewed and will go into operation in the winter season 2025/26.

With the construction of the feeder lift the traffic flows in the ski area changed – the Maiskopf lift developed into a central connection point and return lift and required a technical as well as comfort enhancement. With the relocation and modernisation of the 6SL Sassgalun from Ischgl (built in 1995) a technically sensible and at the same time sustainable solution was realised, which significantly improves comfort for the guests.

The route and the location of the valley and top stations remained unchanged. New, however, are compact structures reduced to the essentials. Particularly practical: a weather-protected chair storage area in the basement of the top station has been created.

Die Bauweise in Holz greift das architektonische Erscheinungsbild der neuen Zubringerbahn Streuböden auf und fügt sich harmonisch in die alpine Umgebung ein.

The wooden construction picks up the architectural appearance of the new feeder lift Streuböden and blends harmoniously into the alpine surroundings. The engineering office Melzer & Hopfner among others was responsible for the rope-way engineering planning.

Our services:

  • Pre-concept phase
  • Cable car planning
  • Coordination of authorities

Since 1993 Melzer & Hopfner has been active in the ski circuit – with over 40 realised rope-way systems in Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn. We sincerely thank Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn and the entire SkiCircuit team for the long-standing trust and successful cooperation.
